Healthcare is a basic necessity, yet access to it remains a challenge for many, especially in underserved communities. Recognizing this, CMS Foundation, in collaboration with Punjabi Samvad Foundation, took the initiative to organize a Free Health Check-Up Camp on February 25, 2025, in Firozpur, from 10 AM to 4 PM. The camp was dedicated to providing essential healthcare services to children and women, particularly those from slum areas.
A Mission to Serve the Needy
Executing a medical camp in an underprivileged area was a challenging task, but the commitment of both organizations ensured its success. With a primary focus on women aged 19-49 years and 50+, the camp provided thorough general health check-ups, along with screenings for diabetes, heart health, blood pressure, and HIV awareness. Addressing the most common health concerns in the region, the medical team also provided solutions for issues such as anemia, skin problems, low immunity, cough, cold, and gynecological concerns like abnormal discharge.
Beyond Check-Ups: Providing Essential Support
Understanding the importance of nutrition and preventive care, the camp also distributed multi-vitamins, calcium supplements, and other necessary health concern medicines to the beneficiaries. Additionally, in an effort to promote menstrual health and hygiene, sanitary pads were distributed to women, ensuring they had access to essential hygiene products.
Community Response & Impact
The response from the local community was overwhelming. Women and children from the slum areas of Firozpur turned up in large numbers, seeking medical guidance and support. The camp not only provided free check-ups but also educated attendees on preventive healthcare, hygiene, and lifestyle modifications to improve overall well-being.
A Step Towards a Healthier Future
The Punjabi Samvad Foundation remains committed to such initiatives, ensuring that those in need receive access to basic healthcare services. This medical camp was a step forward in bridging the healthcare gap, and similar programs are planned for the future.
“Good health is not a privilege; it is a right. Through such initiatives, we aim to empower the underprivileged, ensuring that no one is deprived of basic medical care.” – Punjabi Samvad Foundation
As we move forward, the foundation urges more individuals and organizations to come together in making healthcare accessible for all. Together, we can create a healthier and stronger society.
